I am very excited to introduce CWHconnect.com and to welcome people to what I hope will be a sought after resource site for cognitive work hardening (CWH). This site is a natural evolution of the last 20 years of my life wherein I developed and pioneered CWH (in 2000) and have gradually transformed it into the intervention it is today. This includes refining it, as required, to meet the needs of clients; scientifically researching it through my doctoral studies; and sharing my knowledge of and experience with the intervention through papers, lectures, and workshops.
CWHconnect.com serves as a springboard for the next step in my knowledge transfer (KT) process beginning with the launch of my awareness tool. Window into CWH: An Awareness Tool provides a lens into CWH (i) through its simplistic yet detailed graphic and (ii) through the succinct yet informative explanations of the intervention. The graphic represents the multi-element nature of CWH and illustrates the change process from disability to worker and ultimately return-to-work (RTW). The descriptive text of the tool provides the backdrop of the intervention to enhance understanding and boost clarity.
Further KT activities are being planned and are mentioned at CWHconnect.com. These include a training manual and training modules with a view towards increasing the pool of occupational therapists who can offer CWH with anticipated increased RTW outcomes. In order to achieve this goal, KT will also include increasing awareness of CWH among the various stakeholders involved in rehabilitation and RTW.
Through this website, I hope to create a ‘CWH community’ of interested parties who will connect here. We can establish CWHconnect as a hub for resources related to CWH and a centre for therapists to engage in dialogue, exchange ideas, and direct questions.
Looking forward to having you connect with me and joining this exciting project!
